Media technology printing apprenticeship
In Germany the skilled occupation “printer” was officially replaced by media technology printing in 2011. This does justice to the wide spectrum of tasks of this profession, since “printers don’t just print”.
The skills in this 3-year dual apprenticeship learned on the job and at a vocational school encompass the entire production process related to the manufacture of various print products
- Selection of specific materials and production routes
- Independent set up and operation of production facilities
- Inspection and optimisation of manufacturing processes
- Working according to prescribed quality standards and their inspection
- Consideration of economic and ecological aspects at work
Technical maintenance and care of production facilities and communication with upstream and downstream sections complete this versatile job.
Have you got a good eye for colour and are not afraid to work with large machines? Two excellent prerequisites for this occupation.

Media designer apprenticeship
Three specialisations are focused on during the three-year apprenticeship as a digital and print media designer:
- Consulting and planning
- Concept and visualisation
- Design and technology
The dual apprenticeship is learned on the job and at a vocational school. All skills related to customer service are taught and implemented in practice, including:
- Consulting
- Project planning (alone and in a team)
- Visualisation and presentation of work on an assignment
- Developing designs to make them media-compatible for subsequent processing
- Data handling (creation, transfer and conversion for multiple use)
This versatile job is taught by our instructors on the job in parallel to lessons at school in a team-oriented work environment.
